Ceramic - Kussharo Jug
A Hokkaido ceramicist has endeavoured to show his abstract interpretation of the natural environment through this jug. Muted colours and short brush strokes have been used to resemble the weathered driftwood, spongy moss and smooth pebbles created by the rhythmic ebb and flow of Lake Kussharo.
Japanese pottery is not just about creating functional objects. Each piece is born out of local traditions and resources and narrates a story of the potter's skill, the prefecture's characteristics and a deep veneration for nature.
Whether you're adding milk to your tea, pouring cream on your pudding or looking for a small pottery flower vase, this versatile jug is sure to add interest to any table.

Product Story
"Konichiwa", the staff behind the desk at Aomori's ferry terminal greet us with typical Japanese alacrity. It's 7 a.m. and we feel utterly exhausted. Having driven over 700km from Tokyo's Narita airport over the past couple of days to make it this far, it is perhaps inevitable.
